MLB Lockout
If what is happening in Major League Baseball this year seems familiar, think back to MLB's lockout in 1994.
MLB owners are at it again...they locked the players out after the contract expired on December 1, 2021 and then waited over 6 weeks before coming to the table to start the negotiations with the MLBPA. Now of course, they are blaming the players for not accepting a contract that not only does not enhance the players' status, but in some cases does not move from the previous contract. The owners created this monster and now wants the monster to go back into it's cave. That is not going to happen, yet the owners feel they can bludgeon the players union to accept what would be a bad contract for the next however many years.
Of course this will drive the fans of the game further away but that doesn't seem to faze the owners in the least. The fans are the last thing on their mind as all they can see is the dollar signs in their eyes, and they don't want to share any more of that money than they have to. The old saying that these entities are dickering on how to equally distribute billions of dollars comes to mind. One of these days the fans are going to realize that there are other ways for them to spend their hard earned money and maybe then the owners will realize that they killed the golden goose. I wish that were true, but unfortunately I don't think they will ever realize it until it is way too late.
